"WITHIN SERIES II"
Within series II is a photographic project which explores the construction of large scale cityscapes inspired by childhood architectural drawings and memories of urban blackouts in South Brazil.
The images are constructed using dozens of high end digital raw files in order to create highly detailed cityscapes. Each artwork takes about a month in studio postproduction: a slow process similar to creating a large painting or a drawing.
The final image size is determined by the amount of photographs used in its construction. There's no physical enlargement in the process, the final large aluminium panels are made from the equivalent of a large scale digital contact print, therefore holding an incredibly high level of detail.
The project is about patience, photography, architecture, heritage and memory.
Within series II have been photographed between 2012 and 2014 in London, Paris, NYC, Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre.
Special thanks to the Arts Council England for supporting the research & development of the project.

André Lichtenberg & Brian McClave
Showcase Gallery is delighted to be showing the work of two innovative artists who use photography and computer technology to reveal new truths, ‘to extend what we normally see’. These incredibly beautiful images – both artists create large scale artworks – are the result of painstaking and detailed work and the application of two sets of ideas that come together under the title Time and Place.
